It will run from 8 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday, and 8 am to noon on Saturday. Dom Daniel will publish more detailed information soon. There is still room for a few more boys, so please send an e-mail to the coordinator of this event at phalanx0411 "at" yahoo "dot" com if you are interested, or pass this information along. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ From what I have heard, the TLM at Saint James has been suspended temporarily as there is no priest present who can offer it regularly. Those who wish to attend the TLM are traveling to St. John the Baptist in Front Royal, VA where the Mass is offered each Sunday as shown in the menu to the right. The Canons Regular of the New Je

This was sent to me by email. The Mass at St. Peter's is not shown. The celebrants were members of the Canons of the New Jerusalem who visited over the Christmas season. The pictures of the church were taken on the Christmas Day Mass at St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town, WV. This parish was built about 3 or 4 yrs a go. It doesn't have a high altar, but with the tabernacle in the back and facing east, it was not hard for the Canons Regular of the New Jerusalem to set the altar... We also had a Midnight Christmas Mass at the Historic Chapel of St. Peter in Harpers Ferry, and I deeply regreted not taking my camera with me! (That old church has a beautiful high altar!) What a beautiful Church! NB: The TLM Mass there is now only occasional pending a priest who can celebrate the TLM routinely.

Saint James the Greater Church, Charles Town, WV - Holy Week Update

I am delighted to say that I received an email from my contact at Saint James the Greater in WV. It appears that the Canons of the New Jerusalem plan to return to Saint James for Holy Week this year. When a schedule is finalized, I will post it. In the meantime, please consult this earlier post from a while back . It contains information on a Yahoo email list Group that this Parish is using to keep people informed on the TLM at Saint James. I would encourage you to join this Yahoo Group if this TLM Mass appeals to you as official information about Saint James in WV is released through that Group.

UPDATE: Status of TLM Masses in Charles Town, Front Royal, Harper's Ferry, etc.

In response to my post of yesterday , my WV "source" has given me some updated information. The following is a redacted version so it flows as a single story: Next Sunday, February 15th, at 12:30 PM there will be a Solemn High Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Front Royal, VA. It will be the last Mass celebrated by Fr. Pollard before being transferred to St. Isidore in Orange, VA. The Mass will be assisted by Fr. Gee from Christendom College. Fr. Pollard will be replaced by Fr. Richard Carr. Christendom College offers a Latin Novus Ordo Mass on Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:30 AM, and a Mass of Blessed John XXIII -the extraordinary form- on Tuesdays 7:30 AM. Fr. Gee has been recently transferred to Christendom. It was announced yesterday at St. John the Baptist in Front Royal that for the Solemn High Mass, Fr. Gee would be helping. I presume this means that Fr. Gee is interested in the Extraordinary Form. The TLM at St. James is no longer on a weekly

The website has been under construction for ages, and I hope the weekly Mass will be listed soon! Deo gratias!

Regional Mass News - August 22nd, 2008

Update August 29th: The proper URL for Saint Alphonsus is now working again. I have changed it back to the original URL. I just discovered this evening that Saint Alphonsus Church in Baltimore must have failed to renew its domain name or is in the process of moving to a new server. The link that was present for so long now takes one to a site that advertises homes. As a result, I have gone into the FAQs, Visitors Ask About the TLM, etc. and the link in the right margin and changed the URL with this link . This link is from the Archdiocese of Baltimore and has all the information necessary. Many are checking regularly about St. Bartholomew's in Manchester, MD. The TLM was a great success, but it appears that it will be an occasional event. I have heard nothing further on this and know that the Pastor is a member of the Faculty at Mt. St. Mary's. To say he is busy is an understatement. Many are also checking on the TLM that was being held on a fairly regular basis at S

Reminder: TLM Mass at Saint James the Great in CharlesTown, WVA

A simple reminder that Fr. Gismondi will offer the extraordinary form today, Sunday, May 18th, at 4:00 PM at St. James in Charles Town, WV.

Visitors ask...College of Notre Dame and TLM, Shepherdstown, WV

A visitor is seeking information on the College of Notre Dame. This causes some problems because the more famous "University located in South Bend, IN" is liable to pop up unless you use the correct search string. Here is the link . It is located just north of Loyola College on Charles Street in Baltimore on a beautiful campus . Another visitor appears to be searching for info on the TLM at Saint James the Greater in Charles Town, WV. The seeker is using Shepherdstown in the search which is nearby it seems. Here is the latest info . The next TLM is this Sunday at 4:00 PM according to my source.

Special: TLM at Saint James the Greater Catholic Church on Sunday, May 18th at 4:00 PM

Some of you have been returning on a regular basis to find out more on the TLM at Saint James Parish in Charles Town, WV . The website is still under construction so that has not been of help. Also, I do not receive the bulletin. My faithful contact has been invaluable in linking me with the news from the Parish bulletin. Here is an email update I just received and I give my thanks for this information: As announced yesterday at St. James' bulletin: "TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS NEXT WEEKEND: Fr. Gismondi of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter will be here NEXT Sunday, May 18th, at 4:00 pm to offer a Traditional Latin Mass." I'm afraid that email from my contact will be the only way to get news out on this forum. I understand that altar boys are to be trained this summer so that a group of trained servers is always on hand.

UPDATE: TLM Masses in May at Saint James Parish in Charles Town, WV

I recently wrote to my contact at St. James the Greater Parish in Charles Town, WV to inquire if there are any updates to the TLM Mass schedule there. Here is the email response I just received: The Latin Mass at St. James is still only once a month. I was told there will be a Latin Mass in May, but the date has not been announced yet. Our Pastor, Fr. Brian Owens recently took the Latin Mass training in Nebraska that the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter offers for parish priests. I understand he doesn't want to start offering it on a weekly basis until he's able to do it correctly. That's why Fr. Gismondi, FSSP has been coming from DC once a month to offer this Mass. I heard that there will be a week-long Altar Boy Camp during the summer with a seminarian from that same Fraternity, working towards being able to offer it on a weekly basis. I'll let you know, as soon as I hear something else. Of course, the moment I hear, I will announce the schedule.

Then, the very next day, Sunday, 13th April at 4:00 PM, Fr. Gismondi, FSSP, will offer the Mass in the Extaordinary Form at St. James as well. All are cordially invited to attend.

Further update: TLM Masses at Saint James the Greater in Charles Town, WVA

I just received an email from my contact at Saint James the Greater in Charles Town, WVA that really just confirms what has already been posted for Palm Sunday and for Easter Sunday . However, note that two other TLM Masses have been added for March 15th and another Mass for April 12th. The celebrant of the April Mass intrigues me very much! I wish to remind/inform everyone of the following: 1. Latin Masses are scheduled for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday at 4:00 pm here at St. James. Fr. Gismondi will be the celebrant for both Masses. The Easter Mass will be a High Mass. 2. Additionally, there will be a Low Mass this Saturday (March 15) at 8:00 am offered by Fr. Longua, FSSP. There will also be a Low Mass offered at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 12. This Mass will be offered by Fr. Logan, the senior Catholic Chaplain at the US Naval Academy . Both of these Masses will be offered at St. James . Please note the times and dates and extend the invitation to attend thes

DC Catholic: Regional Holy Week Calendar

My good friend at DC Catholic has provided a nice "Holy Week" calendar which lists the TLM Masses being offered in DC as well as those in Baltimore at St. Alphonsus . Please be sure to check it out ! I tip my hat on this nice approach! I remind you of the TLM Masses at Saint James the Greater in West Virginia listed below . I have updated the post of yesterday since I want the information to be as correct as possible. This is accessible to points within Maryland. I had no inkling in starting this that the TLM in Maryland would need a "regional approach." I am praying that our friends in the DelMarVa peninsula can have their concerns met also. In any case, for points within the DC/Baltimore metro axis, DO check out the calendar by DC Catholic !

Update : For clarification, my source informs me that Mr. Bill Lademan is the Coordinator for the Latin Mass Committee . If you wish to become involved, please contact him as advised below. I have revised this post accordingly. I received email confirmation from my wonderful source at Saint James the Greater Catholic Church in Charles Town, WV that the TLM will be celebrated on Palm Sunday. This is from the bulletin for today: " TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS : We have a Traditional Latin Mass scheduled for next Sunday (Palm Sunday) at 4 pm . Fr. Gismondi of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter will be celebrating the Mass. He will also be here for Easter Sunday, March 23rd, for a Traditional Latin Mass at 4 pm". "St. James is sponsoring an Altar Boy Mini-Camp to prepare boys 10 to 16 to serve the TLM.
