Ascension Thursday, Traditional (Gregorian, Tridentine) Masses Locally

Some are seeking the location of a "Traditional Latin Mass" (Gregorian, Tridentine, Usus Antiquior) for the Feast Day, Thursday. I use the term TLM after a discussion on the blog "What Does the Prayer Really Say?" and this was the consensus choice over other choices. Saint Alphonsus Church in Baltimore has the TLM scheduled on Thursday night at 7:00 PM. In addition, on Thursday, there is a Solemn High Mass being celebrated at St. John the Baptist in Front Royal, VA at 7 PM, and a TLM at Saint Bernadette Church in Silver Spring at 7:30 PM. Here are the Propers for that Mass, Missa 'Viri Galilaei' ( Tridentine Latin Rite Missal Project ). Please let me point out that two of the Masses above are posted on the Events Calendar used by this blog . In addition, kindly note that the link to this calendar is also in the "header" (the blue field containing the blog title) as well. Finally, anyone may post an event on this calendar! When someone does

TLM at Saint James the Greater Church in Charles Town, WV - Important Note and Meeting

My friend and contact at Saint James the Greater in WV has emailed me an important note . I would invite everyone who wants the TLM at Saint James to attend the Latin Mass this Sunday, Feb. 1st at 9:30 AM , and to stay for a small reception for Fr. Dom Daniel, Canons Regular of the New Jerusalem . Fr. Dom Daniel is deciding on a location to establish a monastery. If the people want him to stay within this tri-state area, we are in need of people able to contribute financially or otherwise to show the Bishop (WV) that this community would not be a burden on the Diocese. Anyone interested in helping or keeping up-to-date can join this Yahoo Group: StJamesLatinMass@yahoogroups.com Finally, we ask for prayers for the Latin Mass community at St. James. Those attending this "occasional" TLM Mass apparently come from the local area, from parts of Western Maryland and from the Front Royal area of VA. I'm sure more will be discussed at the meeting after the TLM Mass.

Regional Mass News - August 22nd, 2008

Update August 29th: The proper URL for Saint Alphonsus is now working again. I have changed it back to the original URL. I just discovered this evening that Saint Alphonsus Church in Baltimore must have failed to renew its domain name or is in the process of moving to a new server. The link that was present for so long now takes one to a site that advertises homes. As a result, I have gone into the FAQs, Visitors Ask About the TLM, etc. and the link in the right margin and changed the URL with this link . This link is from the Archdiocese of Baltimore and has all the information necessary. Many are checking regularly about St. Bartholomew's in Manchester, MD. The TLM was a great success, but it appears that it will be an occasional event. I have heard nothing further on this and know that the Pastor is a member of the Faculty at Mt. St. Mary's. To say he is busy is an understatement. Many are also checking on the TLM that was being held on a fairly regular basis at S

Visitors ask...TLMs in Pennsylvania, California, etc.

I've noticed some inquiries about TLMs in either Pennsylvania or California. The website for the Diocese of Harrisburg is sadly behind the curve. Here is a list from the F.S.S.P. that has all locations of their apostolates, U.S. and international . It appears to be up-to-date. The Mass in Lancaster, PA is included, for example. I would search too for a TLM on the F.S.S.P. site first and then the Ecclesia Dei site for PA and here for California . This is fairly comprehensive, it seems for the U.S. at least.

Visitors ask...Latin Mass (online or televised or on TV)

Visitors often seek to find a TLM Mass to see for themselves--whether online, televised, or upcoming--to learn what the "fuss is about." I have posted a lot of things in the right menu from SanctaMissa, from the Latin Society of England and Wales, from the Latin Society of Ireland, from EWTN, from the F.S.S.P., etc. My strong suggestion for anyone who really wants to see and to KNOW what the TLM is about is to purchase this : The Immemorial Tridentine Mass DVD narrated by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen The Immemorial Tridentine Mass narrated by Fulton Sheen is a true treasure of our Catholic heritage. Hear Archbishop Sheen explain the Traditional Mass in this magnificent live 1940 recording of a sung High Easter Mass in Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Chicago. A beautifully filmed presentation of the traditional Easter Mass for the whole family! You can find othe

TLM at Harrisburg Cathedral, Sunday, June 15th

I just received this email from a friend: On Sunday, June 15th, at 2:30 PM, Father Romanoski will be celebrating a Solemn High Mass at the Cathedral of St. Patrick, in Harrisburg, PA. Father Eric Flood, North American Superior for the FSSP , will serve as deacon, and Father Frank Parrinello, the FSSP chaplain of the Mater Dei Community, will be subdeacon. My friend is linked up pretty well with the TLM community in Baltimore so I trust this information.
