Breaking - NLM: Extraordinary Form, Basilica of the National Shrine, Upper Church

Note: This post was edited to avoid confusion. Hat Tip to Matthew! Last year, I received email word (which proved to be unconfirmed and erroneous) that Dario Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos would celebrate a TLM at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C . This proved to be incorrect which was embarrassing for me. The NLM confirms tonight, however, that the Cardinal President Emeritus of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei , will celebrate the TLM on April 24th, 2010 at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C at 1:00 PM in the Upper Church . The calendar for the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception carries the announcement for this event . This is an event of momentous occasion and I pray that the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is filled to capacity. Laus Deo!

Christmas Week Schedule 2009 - Cathedrals and National Shrines in DC and Baltimore

This blog is devoted to the Traditional Latin Mass (or Tridentine). A great many visitors, however, search this blog for ANY Masses at the Cathedrals and National Shrines especially with the Advent and Christmas season approaching. Thankfully, these Churches are now using automated calendars. The links below are to the Calendars of the various Cathedrals or Shrines . The National Shrine of the Assumption in Baltimore, and the Cathedral of Saint Matthew in DC do offer the Latin Mass in the Regular Form (Novus Ordo) . Note that the home pages of all of these are located in the Blogroll and Favorite Websites in the lower right menu bar here --->> Christmas Week Schedule 2009 - Cathedrals and Shrines in DC and Baltimore Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, Baltimore, MD (Scroll ahead to December) National Shrine of the Basilica of the Assumption, Baltimore, MD National Shrine of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, DC Saint Matthew's Cathedral, Washington, DC

WI Catholic Musings: Two Catholic Men - Tim Russert and Tony Snow

I just finished reading another fine obituary of Mr. Tony Snow online in the local Catholic newspaper. It said all the right things and was syndicated by a major Catholic News outlet. However, as in the case of all the stories filed in the mainstream media, two words were seemingly missing from the story, " Catholic convert ." I thought perhaps it was me. I thought it was just my sensitivity. Thanks to the blogosphere, however, I found that that tiny electric tingle running down my spine was out there on the Catholic blogs and running awash. Others had noticed too: Raymond Arroyo for one . This blog post is one of many that have "caught the vibe ." I thought I'd share it. It is not all in my head. The agenda is very clear. Mr. Snow was a Christian AND a Catholic. He will receive a Requiem Mass in a Catholic Basilica tomorrow morning. May God have mercy on his soul and that of Mr. Russert. May their souls both rest in peace... Both were Catholics ...

Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception: Solemn High Mass, June 7th

My colleague who informs me of "all things Tridentine ," has sent this by email: There will be a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form ( Tridentine) on Saturday the 7th of June at 6 PM. This will NOT be in the Lady of Lourdes Chapel. Instead, it will be celebrated on the Main Altar in the Crypt Chapel of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C . This will be the concluding Mass of the Fraternity's pilgrimage. I will post more if and when I get an update .
