Visitors ask...Arabic Catholic Churches in Maryland

I have posted on this before but it is recurring. The Catholic Church is not composed simply of the Latin Rite . Instead, as this post on EWTN points out: There are three major groupings of Rites based on this initial transmission of the faith, the Roman , the Antiochian (Syria) and the Alexandrian (Egypt). Later on the Byzantine derived as a major Rite from the Antiochian, under the influence of St. Basil and St. John Chrysostom . From these four derive the over 20 liturgical Rites present in the Church today. The languages used in these Rites varies. I know priests of the Maronite Rite who celebrate the Divine Liturgy in Aramaic but who also know the Latin Rite and speak beautiful Latin or English. I just checked the Archdiocesan website and can't find much in the way of the Eastern Rites. This website, from the Byzantine Catholics of Anerica, has a more comprehensive list .

Afternoon Roundup - Monday, May 19th, 2008

WDTPRS >> UPDATE: TLM dust up with the LMS and Cathedral Chapter of Cardiff (This story was reported yesterday, but Fr. Zuhlsdorf has added additional information on this on May 19th. Please read the much more detailed story with his commentary.) The New Liturgical Movement >> Wyoming Catholic College and the Sacred Liturgy (by Shawn Tribe). Personal note: I have noted visitors from this college to this blog but was not very familiar with the Institution. Judging by this story on the Liturgy, it is a real gem! Laus Deo!
