Catholic Review Online: Divine Mercy Sunday is April 19

In a story dated today, George P. Matysek, Jr. gives a nice roundup of the Divine Mercy services scheduled for the Sunday after Easter : When St. Faustina Kowalska received revelations from Jesus over the course of her short life, the Polish nun reported that Christ frequently asked that a feast day be dedicated to Divine Mercy and that the feast be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. Those requests became a reality in 2000 when Pope John Paul II established the feast of Divine Mercy as a way for believers to seek God’s mercy and forgiveness in a special way. Parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Baltimore will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday April 19 and many will also offer opportunities to receive the sacrament of reconciliation, participate in eucharistic adoration and pray the Divine Mercy novena. Divine Mercy Parish - Divine Mercy Novena - Divine Mercy Sunday

As we enter the Triduum, I want to remind you that Divine Mercy Sunday is April 19th, the Sunday after Easter. For those who wish to recite the novena, it begins tomorrow on Good Friday . I posted links to the Chaplet itself and to the intentions of the nine-day novena in this post . Please state the intentions for the First Day tomorrow. Many parishes will have a Divine Mercy Service. One is being held at Saint Alphonsus Church, for example. However, the official Shrine for the Divine Mercy in the Archdiocese is Holy Rosary Parish . The Shrine will be the site of the Divine Mercy on the 19th. Please consult the website for the explanation of the miracle which occurred to Father Ronald Pytel which was instrumental in the sainthood of Sr. Faustina.
