Mount Saint Mary's University and Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland is holding a Marian Symposium on October 9th through 11th as part of the commemoration of their 200th Anniversary . Spring Destinations: National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes, Emmitsburg, MD

I have written before on the National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes in Emmitsburg, MD located just above the campus of Mt. St. Mary's University . The link is within the Favorite Websites and Blogroll in the right menu. As it is Spring and the month of Mary, May, visitors begin to contemplate visiting the Shrine in force. The National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes is one of the oldest American replicas of the revered French shrine, dating to about two decades after the apparitions at Lourdes (1874), although the site had already been in use for more than seventy years as a place of prayer and devotion. The Grotto was proclaimed a Public Oratory on December 8, 1965 by His Eminence Lawrence Cardinal Shehan, Archbishop of Baltimore.
