Lay Retreats - Fr. James Buckley, F.S.S.P. - Summer, 2009

This is one of my most searched items! I received my indispensable newsletter from the F.S.S.P. today and it lists three Retreats planned for this summer. As I presume that these are filled quickly, I wouldn't hesitate to inquire. Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, Nebraska, 7880 West Denton Road, Denton, Nebraska, 68339. Retreat for Men: June 11-14, 2009 (begins 6 PM Thursday and ends Noon Sunday); Contact business@fsspolgs.org Although the website indicates this as the only Retreat, two others are now listed in the newsletter: Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Retreat for Women, August 17-22, 2009 . Begins at 4 PM Monday and ends after lunch on Saturday. St. Benedict Abbey, Massachusetts, 252 Still River Road, Still River, MA, 3-day Men's Retreat: July 23-26 , 2009 and 3-day Women's Retreat: July 30-August 2 , 2009. All these Retreats require deposits and things are on a "first come, first served" basis. I cannot put the particulars online as to whom to contact. I

1- Someone was searching for "Canons of St. John Cantius (F.S.S.P.)". That is akin to searching for Boston Red Sox (St. Louis Cards). I'm afraid it is an apples and oranges comparison. The Canons Regular of St. John Cantius can be found here . The F.S.S.P. is a separate Fraternity and the North American home can be found here . Note that both hyperlinks are listed in the Favorite Website and Blogrolls in the Right Menu . That is why my friend landed here. I have both groups listed. 2- Traditional Latin Calendar. This is a good question. I have seen several beautiful calendars (hard copy) that are now available for the year. I intend to buy one next year and will tell you all which one I choose. For now, there is no better place to look than here which is the online calendar used at the Seminary of the F.S.S.P . I am using it daily and it is listed in the "header" (blue field above) under Trad. Calendar - F.S.S.P.

F.S.S.P. - Men's 3-Day Ignatian Retreat, June 11-14th, 2009

I received the newsletter of the F.S.S.P. today and noticed that a silent contemplative retreat based on the first week of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola will be held for men. The Retreat Master will be Fr. James Buckley. The Retreat will be from June 11th to the 14th (6:00 PM Thursday and ending noon Sunday). The location is Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, NE. Daily Mass will be according to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite. Contact the Seminary for further information on registration . Those participating must be 18 years of age.

Congratulations and a humble request...

Congratulations on your first anniversary as Archbishop of the "Premier See." Interest in the Usus Antiquior is definitely here, Your Excellency! The F.S.S.P. is located in Scranton, PA, Richmond, VA, and Atlanta, GA . Might Baltimore be included in the future, perhaps? I pray for you daily! Thank you for being our Shepherd! God bless and keep you always!

Transalpine Redemptorists at home: May God bless and keep our seminarians!

I just received this link as an email from one of my good friends, J. FIVE seminarians left the Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer (F.SS.R.) on Papa Stronsay, Orkney, Scotland on August 4th in order to attend the Seminary of the Society of Saint Peter's (F.S.S.P.) in Denton, NE. Ivan Maria, F.SS.R... are very happy to announce that at the end of August they will be received by the Society of Saint Peter's seminary, in Denton, Nebraska. Visitors ask...TLMs in Pennsylvania, California, etc.

I've noticed some inquiries about TLMs in either Pennsylvania or California. The website for the Diocese of Harrisburg is sadly behind the curve. Here is a list from the F.S.S.P. that has all locations of their apostolates, U.S. and international . It appears to be up-to-date. The Mass in Lancaster, PA is included, for example. I would search too for a TLM on the F.S.S.P. site first and then the Ecclesia Dei site for PA and here for California . This is fairly comprehensive, it seems for the U.S. at least.

Pilgrimage of Restoration to the National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception

I am deeply indebted to my email friend, "J." for sending this along. This year the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter will be making their annual pilgrimage of reparation to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC, to thank Our Lady, patroness of America for all the graces she has showered upon us, particularly in the recent visit of his Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, and to make reparation for all the sins of our nation. Concluding their 3-day pilgrimage along the C&O canal, the kind permission of the Rector, Msrg. Rossi, having been granted, they will celebrate a Solemn High Mass on the main altar of the Crypt chapel in the Basilca at 6 pm, Saturday, June 7th. The celebrant will be the newly ordained Rev. Jonathan Romanoski FSSP. All are welcome to attend, as the Crypt chapel will accomodate many. The F.S.S.P. post is here . Father Romanoski will celebrate a Solemn High Mass at St. Alphonsus Church as posted here.

F.S.S.P. Tridentine (Latin) Mass Sites in North America

At least once a day, someone searches for a listing of the F.S.S.P. locations in the United States or Canada. The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter celebrates the Tridentine Latin Mass and is located throughout the USA. To find an F.S.S.P. Latin Mass parish by Diocese, go HERE . Note that there is also a FAQ which summarizes many frequent questions (see the link just below the picture of the Tridentine Mass) as well as an entry in the Blogroll and Websites in the right menu which has a link to the F.S.S.P. sites in North America. For international F.S.S.P. locations, search this site .

Summorum Pontificum: F.S.S.P. in Wyoming

RORATE CAELI: An idea of apostolate for families

Father Demets of the F.S.S.P. files this neat idea on Rorate Caeli . The website in question was discovered by a Latin Mass Community in Arkansas and the information was posted to their bulletin: Domus Christiani is an association of families attached to the Latin Mass and which contains 120 groups in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg. Each group is composed of five to ten families, and when it is possible, it benefits from the spiritual guidance of a priest. The purpose of this association is the sanctification of marriage. According to the well-grounded spiritual tradition of the Church, this goal will be reached by three main means. First, it is the deepening of the interior life: Sacraments and prayer are its foundation. The study of doctrine and of its practical application contributes to increasing the knowledge and love of God. The devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of families, and the consecration of homes and families to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Im
