The Tridentine Mass: Latin Pronunciation, Canon, EWTN Televised Version of September 14, 2007

I have had posters looking to find the Tridentine ( Pian , Traditional Latin, Extraordinary Form , Usus Antiquior ) Mass, its pronunciation and even a video of a TLM being celebrated. The seekers simply want to listen to the Latin spoken in the Mass. Some of these links below (from the Latin Mass Society of Ireland) were posted within comments when Summorum Pontificum was first released as a story on Catholic World News Online . Note too that the Saint John Cantius Society has a beautiful tutorial and website and that a great deal of information is available on EWTN including full videos of televised Masses and other gems . FSSP's St. Gregory's Academy

Gerald Augustinus, author of the Cafeteria is Closed, writes a nice note on St. Gregory's Academy, a boarding school for boys run by the FSSP . The Academy's website has this to say about the institution : St. Gregory’s Academy is a Catholic boarding school for boys in northeastern Pennsylvania . We offer a unique, classical, liberal arts education to high school students from all over North America . In order to engage the imagination as the foundation for higher intellectual activity, St. Gregory’s students read some of the world’s best literature and history, memorize poetry and songs, and participate in a wide variety of cultural activities. The Academy boys have themselves given vocal and theatrical performances throughout the area and at the school. Reasoning skills are cultivated by means of such courses as Euclidean geometry, physics, and classical logic. Academic and cultural activities are balanced by soccer, rugby, hiking, ca

REVIEW: Baronius Press 1962 hand missal

Image
Fr. Z. has written a review of the hand missal from Baronius Press on his blog . I have to confess that I use the newest version called the "Summorum Pontificum" edition (the entire document is reprinted in the Missal). The missal has an imprimatur and forward by Bishop Bruskewitz of the Diocese of Lincoln, NE and is referred to by the F.S.S.P. as "their" missal. It is a beautiful book and I will allow Fr. Z. to explain why he likes it so. Please see the review for further features of this text . Note that Angelus Press also has a beautiful missal which may be the chief competition to this one.

Altar-ation

FSSP transform a modernistic free-standing altar into a very beautiful High Altar. The church that this took place in is in France and is now operated by the Fraternity of St. Peter. The complete time for this "Altar-ation" was just about 15 minutes! The music is Jeanne Barbey's "Te Deum."

Reminder: Televised TLM Mass on EWTN

Catholic Online reminds us that there will be a " Rorate " Mass celebrated by the F.S.S.P. on EWTN from Hanceville, AL on Saturday morning December 15th at 8:00 AM EST . The Mass takes its name from the openings words of the Mass: The " Rorate Mass," so called because it begins with the words " Rorate caeli desuper, et nubes pluant iustum ..." (Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the Just One...), is a votive Mass offered within the season of Advent in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Please tune in if you possibly can and have your TIVO ready to record. The first TLM celebrated on EWTN had a huge backlog of DVDs on order.
