Video - Usus Antiquior Celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Church, Front Royal, VA

I received this email and have permission to post it. The link is to a High Mass celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Church in Front Royal, VA. We found a video on the internet of a Latin Mass we actually attended a couple of months a go in Front Royal. I thought some of you would like to watch it. It was the last Mass that Fr. Pollard celebrated before Fr. Carr was assigned to that Parish. The church was absolutely packed! The homily and the music were great!!! St. John's offers the TLM every Sunday at 12:30 pm. We go there often, and will continue to do so until we have our own Mass on a weekly basis. High Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Celebrant: Fr. Richard Pollard Assisting priests: Fr Daniel Gee and another priest, Chaplains of Christendom College Homilist: Fr. Jerome Fassano, Pastor of St. John's Music: Christendom College Schola Here is the link to the video

Saint John the Baptist, Front Royal VA, May 17th - May Crowning and Consecration

I received this email today from a colleague: On Sunday, May 17th, and immediately after the 12:30 TLM, St. John the Baptist Church in Front Royal will be having a Procession down Main Street, followed by a May Crowning at the Gazebo. The St. John's Schola will be leading us in singing Marian hymns, then we will be praying the Rosary as we walk. A lovely five-foot tall vintage statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be carried through town and will have a Knights of Columbus honor guard. Fr. Carr will then consecrate the town and county to the Immaculate Heart. At the end of the procession, we invite all to a finger-food and coffee social... Please join us in giving public honor to Our Blessed Mother. Rain or Shine. (Expected start time of procession is 1:45) Click for Calendar (opens New Window)

Christendom College: TLM, Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I just received the following by email and have no further information other than this: There will be a Mass in the Extraordinary Form at Christendom this Saturday (February 28th). It will be offered by a priest of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (I'm guessing it's Fr. Portzer.) Date: 2/28 Time: 7:30 a.m. I am presuming this is Christendom College in Front Royal, VA.

UPDATE: Status of TLM Masses in Charles Town, Front Royal, Harper's Ferry, etc.

In response to my post of yesterday , my WV "source" has given me some updated information. The following is a redacted version so it flows as a single story: Next Sunday, February 15th, at 12:30 PM there will be a Solemn High Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Front Royal, VA. It will be the last Mass celebrated by Fr. Pollard before being transferred to St. Isidore in Orange, VA. The Mass will be assisted by Fr. Gee from Christendom College. Fr. Pollard will be replaced by Fr. Richard Carr. Christendom College offers a Latin Novus Ordo Mass on Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:30 AM, and a Mass of Blessed John XXIII -the extraordinary form- on Tuesdays 7:30 AM. Fr. Gee has been recently transferred to Christendom. It was announced yesterday at St. John the Baptist in Front Royal that for the Solemn High Mass, Fr. Gee would be helping. I presume this means that Fr. Gee is interested in the Extraordinary Form. The TLM at St. James is no longer on a weekly

Visitors ask...TLM in Charles Town, Frederick, Front Royal and Harpers Ferry...Quo Vadis?

I have been getting a number of "queue" searches for the TLM in Charles Town, Frederick, Front Royal and/or Harpers Ferry. You may have missed this post from several weeks back . It is important for you to read it carefully as I distilled what I could. In essence, THE source for news on the TLM for these communities now is covered by a Yahoo group begun by those interested in keeping the TLM at Charles Town, WV. I cannot say much more as I understand that the situation is being discussed on the other forum. I can say that the TLM was being celebrated by visiting members of the Canons of the New Jerusalem, and that these priests have returned to the West Coast (as I understand it). Whether the TLM will be available in the " corners " area of WV, VA and MD is not known to me. I am sure the Yahoo group will contain more information, and I will post any "official" information I receive (as from a Parish).

Update: Saint John the Baptist Parish, Front Royal, VA

I received an email with some news on a local TLM Parish, Saint John the Baptist in Front Royal, VA : There is a very well established community in Front Royal, VA for the Traditional Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church . We attend this Mass every once in a while. In addition to their Sunday Tridentine Mass at 12:30, their new Pastor, Fr. Fassano, has recently added two weekly masses: On Fridays at 7:00 pm , and on Saturdays at 8:30 am (except on 1st Saturdays). This is not in their website yet, but I called the Parish office and they confirmed this information. Thanks for the news tip!

New TLM Mass location added in Virginia

I have added a new TLM Mass to the right menu. The Mass is celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Parish in Front Royal, VA on Sundays at 12:30 PM . Saint John's is in the Diocese of Arlington and it is a TLM Mass as is the one at St. Lawrence. You will find both now listed in the menu bar . I have also specified which Masses are Latin Novus Ordo . If the Mass location does not stipulate "Latin Novus Ordo ," the Mass location is celebrating the Usus Antiquior . I may have erred, but I believe the menu is accurate . If one of the Parishes is now holding a Mass in the Extraordinary Form , or if you know of one not listed, please contact me ! I am particularly interested in adding TLM Masses in West Virginia or Southern PA . I also wish to update the Saint James the Greater website when it is complete.
