RORATE CAELI: IMPORTANT - Definitive text of the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum published

New Catholic of RORATE CAELI points out that Gianni Cardinale in " Avvenire " publishes the story today that the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum has been finally published in the official gazette of the Holy See, the Acta Apostolicae Sedis (dated September 7, 2007). Here are some pointed changes: A subtitle was given to the motu proprio: « De uso extraordinario antiquae formae Ritus Romani » ("On the extraordinary use of the ancient form of the Roman Rite"); In article 1, the word «conditiones» was replaced with the more correct form «condiciones» , with no change in meaning ("conditions"); In article 3, the word «plerumque» was replaced with «habitualiter» (our translation remains "habitually"); In article 5, § 1, «continenter» was replaced with «stabiliter» , avoiding the notion that the group of faithful would have to be continuous in a certain parish - it only has to exist in a stable, but not necessarily in a permanent and continuo

RORATE CAELI: An idea of apostolate for families

Father Demets of the F.S.S.P. files this neat idea on Rorate Caeli . The website in question was discovered by a Latin Mass Community in Arkansas and the information was posted to their bulletin: Domus Christiani is an association of families attached to the Latin Mass and which contains 120 groups in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg. Each group is composed of five to ten families, and when it is possible, it benefits from the spiritual guidance of a priest. The purpose of this association is the sanctification of marriage. According to the well-grounded spiritual tradition of the Church, this goal will be reached by three main means. First, it is the deepening of the interior life: Sacraments and prayer are its foundation. The study of doctrine and of its practical application contributes to increasing the knowledge and love of God. The devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of families, and the consecration of homes and families to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Im

Catholics and Politics: Papal Reminders

New Catholic of Rorate Caeli posts the three Papal reminders on Catholics and politics . The post is taken from the address of His Holiness to the Members of the European People's Party : As far as the Catholic Church is concerned, the principal focus of her interventions in the public arena is the protection and promotion of the dignity of the person, and she is thereby consciously drawing particular attention to principles which are not negotiable. Among these the following emerge clearly today: [FIRST NON-NEGOTIABLE] - protection of life in all its stages, from the first moment of conception until natural death; [SECOND NON-NEGOTIABLE] - recognition and promotion of the natural structure of the family - as a union between a man and a woman based on marriage - and its defense from attempts to make it juridically equivalent to radically different forms of union which in reality harm it and contribute to its destabilization, obscuring its particular character and its irreplaceabl

Lourdes + 150--Plenary Indulgence Reminder

New Catholic of Rorate Caeli reminds us today that the apparition at Lourdes will have its 150th anniversary this week . As such, the Apostolic Penitentiary has decreed : Each and every member of the Christian faithful who, truly repentant, is purified through sacramental confession, restored through the Most Holy Eucharist and offers prayers for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff, will be able to gain a Plenary Indulgence daily, which may also be applied, by way of suffrage, to the souls of the faithful in Purgatory. The conditions to attain this indulgence and other links of interest are to be found on the Rorate Caeli blogsite and the visit must occur before February 11th .
