Catholic Review Online: Do real men pray the rosary? Texas man says yes and finds many agree

Image
The Catholic Review has posted a story from CNS written by Rose Ybarra . The article begins: Throughout his childhood, David Calvillo’s mother urged him to pray the rosary but he admits the recommendation went in one ear and out the other. “I thought the rosary was for old ladies and funerals,” Calvillo said. His mindset began to change when he attended a retreat at the Benedictine Sisters of the Good Shepherd Monastery outside of Rio Grande City – reluctantly, Calvillo’s wife Valerie pointed out. “He was a bit hesitant,” Valerie Calvillo said. “He didn’t know what to expect.” Going to the retreat proved to be a life-changing experience. “As we were praying the rosary at the retreat, I saw something that I had never seen before,” David Calvillo said. “I felt this incredible connection.” The story goes on to describe how Calvillo now has an apostolate with a website featuring a blog, the Mysteries of the Rosary, the Prayers recited , etc. Please read the story in full and click the ...

WDTPRS >> PCED’s Card. Castrillon Hoyos: celebrate TLM in parishes even when it isn’t requested NOTE: So, according to Card. Castrillion Hoyos, the Holy Father desires that the TLM be a normal part of parish life. He also says that priests should offer it in their parishes even if there is no specific request for it. This is really huge. Some people have contended that priests may not celebrate a public TLM in their parish unless they have first received a petition from a "stable group" (though that not a good translation of what Summorum Pontificum has in the Latin). Then some bishops, contra legem, have treid to limit the public celebrations of TLM ’s even more by trying to impose a minimum number of people in such a "stable group". Now we are getting the sense that priests should simply start using the 1962 Missale Romanum in their parishes so that people can get to know it and benefit from this gift.
