Some Important Events Coming Up Locally!

The "Deo volente" Special Events Calendar is showing some interesting things coming up! Rather than to "bury" these with a blog post, I have been posting them to the calendar. The events include two Corpus Christi Masses on Sunday, June 6th, and a tremendous Saturday of Chant at Saint Bernadette's in Silver Spring on June 12th (this was posted in the New Liturgical Movement). Please check the calendar if you are interested in keeping current. Also, events can be posted "privately" and I will make them public to all after checking the sources.

Traditional Latin Mass in Maryland - New Blog Feature: Special Events Calendar

For some time, I've wondered how to integrate a calendar into this blog that would be of use for Special Events or non-recurring events . Usus Antiquior or Tridentine Masses scheduled weekly can be assembled in a menu ( SEE RIGHT MENU NAVBAR, for example ) and linked to Parish websites. However, what of the occasional special Mass, colloquium or musical event ? So many of these are missed when posted here unless someone knows of it in advance. The New Liturgical Movement has found a solution using a calendar embedded into their blog page . Events are self-reported and require approval by the moderator. This is a huge blog, however, affiliated with the CMAA, receives millions of "hits" and handles international events. So, the local may be lost in the shuffle. In the header to this blog, you will now see the following: Special Event Usus Antiquior Calendar for MD, DC, VA, DE, PA and WV (opens New Window) This calendar is one I've created for TLM events in t

Special: TLM at Saint James the Greater Catholic Church on Sunday, May 18th at 4:00 PM

Some of you have been returning on a regular basis to find out more on the TLM at Saint James Parish in Charles Town, WV . The website is still under construction so that has not been of help. Also, I do not receive the bulletin. My faithful contact has been invaluable in linking me with the news from the Parish bulletin. Here is an email update I just received and I give my thanks for this information: As announced yesterday at St. James' bulletin: "TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS NEXT WEEKEND: Fr. Gismondi of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter will be here NEXT Sunday, May 18th, at 4:00 pm to offer a Traditional Latin Mass." I'm afraid that email from my contact will be the only way to get news out on this forum. I understand that altar boys are to be trained this summer so that a group of trained servers is always on hand.

I have posted on this several times but want to add one final reminder. A TLM Mass will be celebrated by Father Michael Roach at St. Bartholomew's Parish on Sunday, May 11th at 2:00 PM. Further information and a contact phone number are given in this prior post . Note too that this was announced in the Catholic Review. I posted a link to that article in this post . I pray that an enormous group comes to this TLM. It has been sought by the folks in Carroll County for quite some time.
