To anyone following the Traditional calendar of 1962, the Feast of Christ the King fell on October 29th of this year (2017; always the last Sunday of October).  See here , and here for example.  Why does the last Sunday immediately before Advent become the 24th and Last Sunday after Pentecost in the Traditional calendar , but is celebrated as The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe in the more modern post-Vatican II calendar? The feast was instituted by Pope Pius XI with his encyclical Quas Primas on December 11th, 1925.  Dr. Peter Kwasniewski explains in exquisite detail the rationale for the Feast to appear immediately before the Feast of All Saints.  See his excellent explanations found here , and here , and here .  Needless to say, the "Ultimate" Sunday after Pentecost will be celebrated in the Traditional calendar on November 26th of this year and the following Sunday we will all enter Tempus Adventus .
