Visitors ask...Spiritual Directors

Hopefully, this is not a case of "fools rush in where angels fear to tread."

A seeker has used the search term "seeking a spiritual director" and has thus ended up on this site. I know enough to realize that this is a highly specialized Charism from God and that not every Confessor is meant to be or has the patience/training to be a good spiritual director. I also know that such men as Fr. Benedict Groeschel and Fr. John Corapi are excellent priests with extensive backgrounds in retreats and writing, but where should one turn to answer this?

After checking the internet and a variety of forums, it is widely stated that Father Thomas Dubay, a Marianist (and one who frequently appears on EWTN) is considered to be a "master" director of the spiritual life.

Here is a short list I have assembled for those interested in this area. It is by no means extensive:

Please note that all these articles reference books from other Spiritual Masters such as Hans Urs von Balthasar, St. John of the Cross, Blessed John Henry Newman, St. Edith Stein and St. Teresa of Avila.

Fr. Dubay explains the process of "deep conversion" and uses the wealth of the "Spiritual Masters" of the Church to place us on the right track. From there, selecting a holy individual to guide us will become easier in the sense that we will know from whence to seek. I believe reading his works would be an excellent step in the right direction at least.
