I received this sad email. The TLM Mass at St. Francis de Sales in Benedict, MD is canceled for the foreseeable future due to a fire. Please pray for this Parish which has a sad situation to deal with. D.v. Bad news from southern Maryland - St. Francis de Sales Church in Benedict suffered damage due to a fire, possibly by a faulty furnace. The regularly scheduled 11:00 Sunday TLM has been canceled for this Sunday and when it will resume has not been determined yet. I hope I can post better news soon!

Many of you will notice that I have been linking to a very nice blog entitled, The Divine Life , written by Eric Sammons. Today, he posted the following : On an even more local note, the pastor of my own parish, St. John Neumann in Gaithersburg, MD , will begin celebrating the Extraordinary Form of the Mass weekly at 5pm on Sundays starting on Feb. 21st (the First Sunday in Lent). He will begin by celebrating the low mass, and he hopes to move to a Missa Cantata (basically a low mass with a choir) by Easter. If you are in the area, try to make an effort to attend! I asked him to confirm this and he has. You will notice it is now listed in the menu of the TLM Masses in the region. This is great news! Laus Deo!

The Catholic Review has posted an article calling for support for women facing crisis pregnancies . The post describes a document written by the Bishops of the Maryland Catholic Conference called "Set Out in Haste." The Catholic Review story states in part: “Set Out in Haste: Serving Women, Serving Life” was signed by Baltimore Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien, Washington Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl and Wilmington Bishop W. Francis Malooly, whose dioceses include parts of Maryland. [...] The statement decries a recent campaign by NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland and Planned Parenthood of Maryland to single out pro-life pregnancy resource centers, which provide pregnant women with emotional and material assistance.
