Catholic Review Online | Mount de Sales blesses ground for new convent

George P. Matysek, Jr. has a nice story in the Catholic Review about the new Convent planned for the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia who teach at the all-girls high school, Mount de Sales Academy in Catonsville, MD. Father Michael Roach, pastor of St. Bartholomew in Manchester and former president of the school’s board of trustees, sprinkled holy water on the grounds where the two-story building will stand. The convent will cost $2 million, including $1.5 million for construction and $500,000 for a maintenance endowment. More than $1 million has already been raised. Sister Anne Catherine said the convent will include a chapel, a community room, a work room and sleeping quarters. It will accommodate 12 sisters. Next year, five sisters will be working in the school and two others will live with the community as they continue their studies at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore. The building is expected to be finished in early spring of 2011. Read this nice story here

10 Episcopal nuns in Archdiocese of Baltimore to join Catholic Church

This story was first posted by Shawn Tribe of New Liturgical Movement and I posted it in June, 2009 . The Catholic Review has now released the full details (this story was also linked by Fr. John Zuhlsdorf of WDTPRS ). George P. Matysek, Jr. details the faith journey of ten Society of All Saints Sisters of the Poor who are entering the Church on September 3rd in a Mass celebrated by His Excellency Archbishop Edwin O'Brien. In a follow-up story, Matysek details the fact that a "Diocesan Institute" (the first in Baltimore) will be formed . Please read both stories and don't miss the slide show of the good Sisters. Several priests are learning to say the Anglican-Use liturgy.

All Saints Sisters of the Poor: A letter from The Reverend Mother Christina to Associates, Fellowship members and friends - June 18, 2009

I was advised tonight that the All Saints Convent had posted a letter on its website . The site now contains " A letter from The Reverend Mother Christina to Associates, Fellowship members and friends - June 18, 2009 ." The letter is in PDF format but a portion is reproduced below: [...] After many months spent in discerning God's will for us in the Church, the Community believes that it is called to full communion with the Holy See. God willing, the Archbishop of Baltimore, in the Roman Catholic Church, will receive the All Saints Sisters in a service to be held in our Chapel on 3 September, 2009. Our community will keep these next weeks leading up to the scheduled reception of its Sisters as a period of final discernment and preparation. It will therefore not be possible for us to answer all the questions and concerns which we may receive. Of the 12 Sisters, 10 will be received as of now. Because the service on September 3rd will be an intensely

Breaking - Archdiocese of Baltimore - NLM: Anglican Convent of All Saints to be Received in Full Communion

I am averse to post this before The Catholic Review, but it is now making the rounds on the internet. Shawn Tribe of the New Liturgical Movement is reporting that members of the All Saint's Community of Anglican Nuns will be received into the Catholic Church . Additional information is being reported by the blog, Sub Tuum, which provides additional background . I pray that readers will pray for these Sisters and am delighted that this is apparently going to occur. It has been rumored for a long time or so it seems.
