St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Upper Marlboro, MD: TLM, September 26th, 7 PM

I received an email today from my contact in Southern Maryland: I checked the St. Mary’s bulletin online for the TLM on Tuesday and found that the TLM is scheduled for Friday instead . "LATIN TRIDENTINE MASS - Rev. Mark White will be offering a Latin Tridentine Mass in the Church on Friday, September 26th at 7:00 pm . Why not take this opportunity to either acquaint or re-acquaint yourself with this 'Extraordinary Form of the Holy Mass.'" If you are close by, why not attend?

Maundy Thursday: The Mass of the Last Supper (Latin and English)

I am indebted to the Tridentine Latin Rite Missal Project for this post . The Holy Thursday Mass readings appear to be fully accurate except for the special forms of the Communicantes , Hanc Igitur , etc. which can be found only in a Missal such as the Summorum Pontificum F.S.S.P. version of the Baronius Missal . GOSPEL ¤ John 13. 1-15 † Continuation of the holy Gospel according to St. John. † Sequentia sancti Evangelii secundum Ioannem. [Washing of the feet. Humility of Our Lord Jesus Christ.]

Reminder: TLM Latin Holy Week Masses

This was posted previously, but I thought I'd do it once more . Click this link for a previous post summarizing the schedules here (Baltimore) and in D.C. I have posted the schedules for Saint Alphonsus and for Saint James the Greater in Charles Town, WV. DC Catholic has a link to the DC calendar of events. Also note the list of Parishes on the menu bar to the right . Many have their bulletins online on their website and so will have their particular Holy Week schedules. Also, check here . This is a search from MassTimes.org and lists ALL Latin Masses in the region (both the TLM and the Ordinary Form). This may help you narrow your search. Note that Silver Spring was chosen arbitrarily as the "center" for this search. Finally, here is a list of all Parishes in the Baltimore metro region . The times include Sunday Mass and Vigils. Many have web pages. If you know the zip code you are visiting, you should be able to find a "close fit."

New TLM Mass locations added in D.C. and Virginia

I checked my favorite website, MassTimes.org and found several new TLM Masses I thought I 'd list on this blog's menu bar to the right . To discover these, I entered MassTimes.org, used a search string beginning with a local zip code and stipulated "Latin" as being the preferred language . It returned both the Latin Novus Ordo Masses and those Masses listed as being in the Extraordinary Form . Here is the full complement . I now have listed Georgetown University which has the TLM being celebrated on Sundays in Copley Crypt during the school year, and both St. Lawrence and St. Catherine of Siena in Virginia. Please email me if you have any corrections, if one of the Churches listed obtains a website or if special events are taking place. I am happy to post this information.

As the story explains: The new office will provide support and education to parishes in the area of liturgy and worship. Monsignor Jaskot expects to have the office up and running by September after completing his licentiate in canon law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. In addition to heading the office of worship, Monsignor Jaskot will serve as an adjunct faculty member and teach an introductory sacraments class at St. Mary’s Seminary, Roland Park. [...] Monsignor Jaskot said liturgy has always been one of his passions. He holds a licentiate in sacred theology in dogmatic theology specializing in sacraments from the Pontifical Athenaeum of St. Anselm in Rome. His bachelor’s degree in sacred theol

RORATE CAELI: CONFIRMED-Personal Parish for the Traditional Mass in Rome

Rorate Caeli has now confirmed a story it had posted once before and was asked to remove . To wit, a Personal Parish for the Extraordinary Form is to be established in Rome : the traditional Mass apostolate in Rome under Fr. Joseph Kramer is to be elevated into a personal parish, with Fr. Kramer as its first parish priest. Read the story here ! Update: Gregor Kollmorgen has a nice story on this as well on The New Liturgical Movement with photos and a translation of the complete article ! Further Update: Fr. Zuhlsdorf adds more details on this development. He refers to it as one of Rome's " treasure Churches."

A busy news day!

Following up on Fr. John Zuhlsdorf's post earlier today, Shawn Tribe of the NLM now posts the entire letter from Cardinal George HERE . Also, according to Fr. Zuhlsdorf, Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos will ordain the new Deacons of the F.S.S.P. in Nebraska in May. He is the President of the Ecclesia Dei Commission . Be sure to read the comments as other members of the Curia are ordaining Deacons in what appears to be a show of support for the Usus Antiquior . One new Deacon of the F.S.S.P., Jared McCambridge, is a former Naval officer and graduate of the Naval Academy in Annapolis .
