NLM: The Gregorian Missal (Downloadable Missal from Solesmes!)

Here it is! To quote Jeffrey Tucker: It's been my dream--and many share it-- that the Gregorian Missal could be examined by every Catholic musician in the English-speaking world . It wouldn't cause an immediate outbreak of chant in every parish. I know this. But it would change the debate. It would illustrate what we fanatics have been saying for so long. It would illustrate what Vatican II intended. It would instill a sense of the ideal. It would make it clear that chant is the music of the Roman Rite. It would provide direction for the future. The hermeneutic of continuity between old and new would become clear. We could begin again to stitch together our practice with our tradition. Glorious news: the Solesmes Abbey has made this possible. The monastery has given permission to the Church Music Association of America to upload a beautiful copy, fully bookmarked, online at MusicaSacra.com. It is here, the first universally downloadable presentation of the Gregorian Missal .

Homeschool Alert >> Immaculate Heart of Mary Home School and Parent Conferences

My ever vigilant friend in West Virginia has alerted me to a series of Home School Conferences . The National Conference is scheduled for June 13th and 14th at the Dulles Expo and Conference Hall . Directions can be found here . The speakers list is shown here and includes a number of superb guests . The full schedule is linked here . Note the following (as pointed out by my friend): On Saturday, June 14, Fr. Joseph Fessio will have two talks: 9:30-10:15 am Pope Benedict XVI and the Mass "Learn about the themes from his classic text The Spirit of the Liturgy. What does pope Benedict XVI say about sacrifice, music, participation, kneeling, the tabernacle, adoration and the direction of prayer?" 3:00-3:45 pm Pope Benedict XVI and the Motu Proprio "The Motu Proprio was not just a short-term solution to the problem of some schismatics and a few people with nostalgia for the old Mass. It is rather part of a plan to renew the whole Church, announced

MyCatholic.com: Customized Home Pages, Daily Mass Reading Widget and more!

I have given a hat tip to this link before but it bears repeating. myCatholic.com has a free "home page" that can be customized to suit your Catholic needs . Yes, it has Catholic News.com, CNA, CNS and a large variety of Catholic blogs, but it also has financial news, Yahoo top sports, headline news, etc. The entire package is very attractive and I wouldn't know what to do without it. The CatholicContent.com folks also offer links to Catholic job listings nationwide. They also have free widgets that will give you a link to Catholic Search Engines or to the Daily Mass Readings of the USCCB . The Daily Mass Readings widget is the one I have linked in the right menu bar near the bottom of the page . I also used it recently as a demo on a post a few days ago. You can install this onto a web page and then check the Readings each day along with the provided Meditation. Give it a look. It is a great feature and is provided by a solid Catholic company.

Special: FSSP and EWTN Produce Training DVD; Free for priests in North America

Shawn Tribe of The New Liturgical Movement has a fascinating post . The F.S.S.P. in association with EWTN is offering a free DVD for all priests in North America . The DVD is a training video for the Usus Antiquior with an introduction by Cardinal Castrillon-Hoyos . As Shawn states: The first DVD contains the introduction by Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos, followed by a "comprehensive explanation of the entire ceremony of Low Mass..." The second DVD included in the set includes "a real time demonstration of the Mass filmed from four simultaneous camera angles with the ability to switch the viewing angle at any time. Also includes a spiritual commentary on the Mass by Fr. Calvin Goodwin, FSSP." Check here for more .
