NLM: PCED: Seminarians Have a Right to Be Taught about the Extraordinary Form

Gregor Kollmorgen of The New Liturgical Movement has posted a letter and link from the Spanish blog, Secretum Meum Mihi , which contains a response from the PCED to a letter regarding training in the Extraordinary Form sent by a seminarian. The response is not binding but quite interesting .

TLM Mass at Saint Bartholomew's Church, Manchester: Follow-Up

My faithful correspondent from Carroll County wrote to inform me about the TLM Mass celebrated by Fr. Michael Roach at St. Bartholomew's Parish in Manchester, MD on Pentecost Sunday. Here is part of the email: The Mass (at St. Bartholomew's on Pentecost) was a wonderful success - the Holy Spirit just wouldn't let us down. Our pastor was expecting between 50-100 people and we had at least 250! Everything went smoothly and the congregation was very excited about what they saw and heard. I felt privileged to sing with the schola and, while we weren't perfect, we were better than any of us had expected! The Holy Spirit again! Father is talking about having another Traditional Mass ... I was not able to take any pictures but some of my friends did and I am trying to round those up. I can forward them to you if you'd like (please!). We are very proud of our pastor. He has worked very hard to bring the TLM to us... We have also been encouraging fol

Visitors ask...College of Notre Dame and TLM, Shepherdstown, WV

A visitor is seeking information on the College of Notre Dame. This causes some problems because the more famous "University located in South Bend, IN" is liable to pop up unless you use the correct search string. Here is the link . It is located just north of Loyola College on Charles Street in Baltimore on a beautiful campus . Another visitor appears to be searching for info on the TLM at Saint James the Greater in Charles Town, WV. The seeker is using Shepherdstown in the search which is nearby it seems. Here is the latest info . The next TLM is this Sunday at 4:00 PM according to my source.

Special: TLM at Saint James the Greater Catholic Church on Sunday, May 18th at 4:00 PM

Some of you have been returning on a regular basis to find out more on the TLM at Saint James Parish in Charles Town, WV . The website is still under construction so that has not been of help. Also, I do not receive the bulletin. My faithful contact has been invaluable in linking me with the news from the Parish bulletin. Here is an email update I just received and I give my thanks for this information: As announced yesterday at St. James' bulletin: "TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS NEXT WEEKEND: Fr. Gismondi of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter will be here NEXT Sunday, May 18th, at 4:00 pm to offer a Traditional Latin Mass." I'm afraid that email from my contact will be the only way to get news out on this forum. I understand that altar boys are to be trained this summer so that a group of trained servers is always on hand.

WDTPRS: Italian magazine Jesus interviews Card. Castrillon Hoyos of the P.C. “Ecclesia Dei”

The interview covered by the publication, " Jesus ," was translated and posted yesterday by Gregor Kollmorgen of The New Liturgical Movement and linked here yesterday. Today, the story has been covered all over the blogosphere. This follow-up post by Father John Zuhlsdorf of What Does the Prayer Really Say is critical to your understanding of the implications of this story as it is a detailed commentary on what was asked and said . In part, it is important because Fr. Zuhlsdorf was affiliated with the PCED for which Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos is speaking. In short, this is ESSENTIAL READING . The Cardinal states at one point about a sentiment being the "mens" of the Pope (L., mens , mind). We can trust, then, that H.E. knows the "mind" of the Holy Father.

Regional Mass News and Special Events - TLM at Saint Bartholomew's Parish in Manchester

I have posted on this several times but want to add one final reminder. A TLM Mass will be celebrated by Father Michael Roach at St. Bartholomew's Parish on Sunday, May 11th at 2:00 PM. Further information and a contact phone number are given in this prior post . Note too that this was announced in the Catholic Review. I posted a link to that article in this post . I pray that an enormous group comes to this TLM. It has been sought by the folks in Carroll County for quite some time.

UPDATE: TLM Masses in May at Saint James Parish in Charles Town, WV

I recently wrote to my contact at St. James the Greater Parish in Charles Town, WV to inquire if there are any updates to the TLM Mass schedule there. Here is the email response I just received: The Latin Mass at St. James is still only once a month. I was told there will be a Latin Mass in May, but the date has not been announced yet. Our Pastor, Fr. Brian Owens recently took the Latin Mass training in Nebraska that the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter offers for parish priests. I understand he doesn't want to start offering it on a weekly basis until he's able to do it correctly. That's why Fr. Gismondi, FSSP has been coming from DC once a month to offer this Mass. I heard that there will be a week-long Altar Boy Camp during the summer with a seminarian from that same Fraternity, working towards being able to offer it on a weekly basis. I'll let you know, as soon as I hear something else. Of course, the moment I hear, I will announce the schedule.
