Visitors ask...Memorial Day

Monday, May 26th is designated "Memorial Day" in the United States (the last Monday in May). It is both a federal and state holiday and many in the U.S. mark it as the "unofficial" first day of summer. The day is set aside to commemorate those members of our military who have died. Many will visit civilian or Veteran's cemeteries to pay their respects, attend scheduled memorial services or go to special Masses to mark this day. I will be posting lightly over the next day or so, but new posts are scheduled.

Visitors ask...most frequently asked questions on Masses, Basilicas, Latin Masses, etc.

Visitors, Welcome! Most of you find your way here using a search engine like "Google" or "Yahoo" which "plops" you here. Then, you may not know where to turn! If Google got you here, it is because I have used a combination of the search words you have used in one of my posts . The most frequently asked questions you have will be found here in one of the four "theme sections ." For example, people seeking a Mass (of any kind) in Maryland or D.C. can either go to the Archdiocesan websites (links found in the right menu) or use MassTimes.org. This is explained in the FAQs . If you are seeking a Latin Mass near Emmitsburg, MD, there isn't one...not each Sunday in any case. Many of you are not familiar with the "interesting" Archdiocesan boundaries of the State of Maryland. The Baltimore City area and the imme

Reminder: TLM Latin Holy Week Masses

This was posted previously, but I thought I'd do it once more . Click this link for a previous post summarizing the schedules here (Baltimore) and in D.C. I have posted the schedules for Saint Alphonsus and for Saint James the Greater in Charles Town, WV. DC Catholic has a link to the DC calendar of events. Also note the list of Parishes on the menu bar to the right . Many have their bulletins online on their website and so will have their particular Holy Week schedules. Also, check here . This is a search from MassTimes.org and lists ALL Latin Masses in the region (both the TLM and the Ordinary Form). This may help you narrow your search. Note that Silver Spring was chosen arbitrarily as the "center" for this search. Finally, here is a list of all Parishes in the Baltimore metro region . The times include Sunday Mass and Vigils. Many have web pages. If you know the zip code you are visiting, you should be able to find a "close fit."
