Visitors ask...most frequently asked questions on Masses, Basilicas, Latin Masses, etc.

Visitors,

Welcome! Most of you find your way here using a search engine like "Google" or "Yahoo" which "plops" you here. Then, you may not know where to turn! If Google got you here, it is because I have used a combination of the search words you have used in one of my posts.

The most frequently asked questions you have will be found here in one of the four "theme sections." For example, people seeking a Mass (of any kind) in Maryland or D.C. can either go to the Archdiocesan websites (links found in the right menu) or use MassTimes.org. This is explained in the FAQs. If you are seeking a Latin Mass near Emmitsburg, MD, there isn't one...not each Sunday in any case. If you wish to know the full and proper names of the Basilicas, National Shrines and so one, these too are listed here.

Many of you are not familiar with the "interesting" Archdiocesan boundaries of the State of Maryland. The Baltimore City area and the immediate area around Baltimore (the counties around Baltimore City) and those to the north and to the west fall within the Archdiocese of Baltimore (including the "panhandle" of Maryland). The area to the south of Anne Arundel County--the "Western Shore" (and including all of Washington, D.C.)--is the Archdiocese of Washington. The Eastern Shore of Maryland falls within the Diocese of Wilmington. The area just below the Potomac River is within the Diocese of Arlington.

I hope that helps. When searching for a Mass at a specific locale (such as the Marian Shrine Grotto at Emmitsburg, MD), it is probably worth following the link given here. That is where the Mass schedule will be posted. Finally, there are two seminaries in Maryland: the Seminary at Mt. St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, MD and St. Mary's Seminary in Roland Park near the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen (the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Baltimore). More information can be found on the Archdiocese of Baltimore vocation website.

One final word. If you are here and wish to search this blog, check out the upper left corner. There is an area to enter search terms for this blog only. It is often helpful. To find information on the TLM Mass at St. Bartholomew's Church (which is today!), the term "Manchester" could be used, or "St. Bartholomew's" or "Fr. Michael Roach." All should retrieve a group of posts that are of interest.
