Collect

Deus, qui pópulis tuis indulgéntia cónsulis, et amóre domináris: da spíritum sapiéntiae, suffragántibus méritis Antístitum Ecclésiæ tuæ, quibus dedísti régimen disciplínæ; ut de proféctu sanctárum óvium fíant gáudia ætérna pastórum.  Per Dóminum.

O God, Who bountifully providest for Thy people, and lovingly rulest over them: do Thou, through the interceding merits of the Chief Bishops of Thy Church, give the Spirit of Wisdom to those unto whom Thou hast given the control of its discipline: that the good advance of their holy flocks may be to the Shepherds a source of everlasting joy.  Through our Lord.

Epistle

Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Hebraeos.
Hebr 13:7-17.

R. Deo gratias

Lesson from the letter of St Paul the Apostle to the Jews
Heb 13:7-17

Brethren: Remember your superiors, who spoke to you the word of God. Consider how they ended their lives, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday and today, yes, and forever. Do not be led away by various and strange doctrines. For it is good to make steadfast the heart by grace, not by foods, in which those who walked found no profit. We have an altar, from which they have no right to eat who serve the tabernacle. For the bodies of those animals who blood is brought into the Holies by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp; and so Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people by His Blood, suffered outside the gate. Let us therefore go forth to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach; for here we have no permanent city, but we seek for the city that is to come. Through Him, therefore, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise always to God, that is, fruit of lips praising His name. And do not forget kindness and charity, for by such sacrifices God’s favor is obtained. Obey your superiors and be subject to them, for they keep watch as having to render an account of your souls.

R. Thanks be to God.

Gospel
Sequéntia sancti Evangélii secúndum Matthaeum.

R. Gloria tibi Domine!

Matt 16:13-19

R. Laus tibi, Christe!
S. Per Evangelica dicta, deleantur nostra delicta.

Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
R. Glory be to Thee, O Lord.
Matt. 16:13-19

At that time, Jesus having come into the district of Caesarea Philippi, began to ask His disciples, saying, Who do men say the Son of Man is? But they said, Some say, John the Baptist; and others Elias; and others, Jeremia, or one of the prophets. He said to them, But who do you say that I am? Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Then Jesus answered and said, Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father in heaven. And I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

R. Praise be to Thee, O Christ.
S. By the words of the Gospel may our sins be blotted out.

Preface of the Apostles (Or Common Preface)

It it truly meet and just, right and for our salvation, to entreat Thee humbly, O Lord, that Thou wouldst not desert Thy flock, O everlasting Shepherd, but, through Thy blessed Apostles, wouldst keep it under Thy constant protection; that it may be governed by those same rulers, whom as vicars of Thy work, Thou didst set over it to be its pastors. And therefore with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominations, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of Thy glory, evermore saying:
