Visitor asks..."Do You Know of Any Daily TLM in MD/VA?"

A visitor left the message above in the combox with an email address. Since this is an open forum, and as this is an excellent question , I thought I'd answer it more globally. Those who are frequent visitors know that I list the Parishes in the area with TLM Mass in the right menu at the very top which is ----> HERE : A cursory glance shows that almost all are Sunday Masses. So, the next question is, which kind of Parish is likely to offer a daily TLM? My first bet would be an F.S.S.P. Church. Sure enough, Harrisburg has a Parish with a daily TLM. My next stop was to look in the header which is up ^ HERE for the Ecclesia Dei-Traditional Mass Directory . This is updated with reasonable frequency so it is rather a good resource. It shows that in the Diocese of Richmond, there are two Parishes shown: St Benedict Church, Chesapeake, VA which has daily TLM Mass St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Richmond, VA which also has a daily TLM Mass. Many of us would love to see the F.

Saint John the Baptist, Front Royal VA, May 17th - May Crowning and Consecration

I received this email today from a colleague: On Sunday, May 17th, and immediately after the 12:30 TLM, St. John the Baptist Church in Front Royal will be having a Procession down Main Street, followed by a May Crowning at the Gazebo. The St. John's Schola will be leading us in singing Marian hymns, then we will be praying the Rosary as we walk. A lovely five-foot tall vintage statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be carried through town and will have a Knights of Columbus honor guard. Fr. Carr will then consecrate the town and county to the Immaculate Heart. At the end of the procession, we invite all to a finger-food and coffee social... Please join us in giving public honor to Our Blessed Mother. Rain or Shine. (Expected start time of procession is 1:45) Click for Calendar (opens New Window)

Visitors ask...Arabic Catholic Churches...Where?

I have continued to receive queries on "Arabic Catholic Churches" and I would love to assist those who are seeking this Mass. I asked my "resident expert" friend about this, and she gave me the following advice for those looking for such a Church. "First, the closest thing that one is likely to find is the Maronite Churches which use Aramaic in their Divine Liturgy. The closest you can come to Baltimore is Our Lady of Lebanon in Washington DC . This is a new church. Otherwise, there are 2 Maronite Churches in Virginia: St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church in Roanoke and St. Anthony in Glen Allen, VA . Otherwise, one would need to seek out a Chaldean Catholic Church. I have only located two - one in MI and CA." So, the 3 Maronite Catholic Churches are the closest thing one is likely to find . If you search for "Syro-Malabar" Churches in the blog search engine (this suggestion is from Yahoo), you will turn up the Mission Churches of the Sy

Update, February 9th, 2011 Since this was initially posted, I have redesigned this blog. There are menu options in the upper right of the navigation lane. One links to a page which contains many local TLM's that can be found in MD, DC, VA, PA, WV, and DE. Please try here first. Another option in the menu has links to international TLM's . Please try both of these. You will find several options for looking for a TLM. Note that I post new local TLMs the moment I hear of them and the news is authenticated.

Regional Mass News and Special Events - Solemn High Mass and New TLMs

I have had a couple of seekers looking for Special Masses that were posted here previously. There will be a Solemn High Mass on Sunday in Virginia and it is posted here . There is also a Mass being inaugurated in May at St. Bartholomew's Church in Manchester and that is linked here. Finally, there WILL be a Solemn High Mass at Saint Alphonsus in June by a newly-ordained member of the F.S.S.P. and that is linked here . I hope that helps. I am unaware of any Solemn High Masses in Baltimore this weekend.

A hat tip to J. who sent this to me by email: There will be a guest celebrant at the Noon High Mass at St. John the Beloved in McLean, Virginia on Sunday, April 20th. Fr. Philip Anderson, O.S.B., Prior of Our Lady of the Annunciation Monastery at Clear Creek, Oklahoma will sing the mass.

Update: Saint John the Baptist Parish, Front Royal, VA

I received an email with some news on a local TLM Parish, Saint John the Baptist in Front Royal, VA : There is a very well established community in Front Royal, VA for the Traditional Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church . We attend this Mass every once in a while. In addition to their Sunday Tridentine Mass at 12:30, their new Pastor, Fr. Fassano, has recently added two weekly masses: On Fridays at 7:00 pm , and on Saturdays at 8:30 am (except on 1st Saturdays). This is not in their website yet, but I called the Parish office and they confirmed this information. Thanks for the news tip!

Another New TLM Parish added in McLean, Virginia!

After consulting the Diocese of Arlington's website under "Celebrations of the Extraordinary Form ," I have added Saint John the Beloved Parish in McLean, VA which has a Solemn High Mass (or Sung Mass) each Sunday at Noon . The Parish is also linked in the TLM menu to the right . Laus Deo!
