The 'Benedictine' Altar Arrangement: "Conversi ad Dominum"

I was speaking with a Parish Pastor and good friend, and he told me that in his little corner of the world, he had adopted the "Benedictine Arrangement." The people loved it. It was, he believed, more conducive to an appreciation for and increased devotion of the Holy Eucharist which he felt was lacking.

The New Liturgical Movement and What Does the Prayer Really Say? both followed this development closely. Shawn Tribe often showed a Mass--whether inside or outside the Vatican--in which this arrangement was used. The phenomenon has been noted by many in the blogosphere as this list can attest; the arrangement is spreading to more Parishes now. It is no wonder that this was adopted by Cardinal George Pell during WYD. I hope to see more of this. The rationale for this arrangement is clear. It is clearly something dear to the heart of our Holy Father.
