Breaking : RORATE CÆLI - IMPORTANT INTERVIEW - "Similar to Opus Dei?" Schmidberger responds: "Somewhat."

New Catholic posts a lengthy interview with Fr. Franz Schmidberger, Superior for the District of Germany of the S.S.P.X. Read the post in its entirety here . Here is an excerpt: KNA: In 2005 there was a conversation in Castel Gandofo, in which, in addition to the Pope, curial Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos, and Traditionalist Bishop Bernard Fellay, you also took part. What was agreed at that time? Schmidberger: We discussed the entire situation with the Society and agreed on the path which we are now following. The Motu Proprio of 2007 and the lifting of the so-called excommunications were the first steps. Now comes the theological dialog. Next we have to find a canonical structure for the Society with its 500 priests. We are satisfied with the solution that Rome is considering. KNA: Which is? Schmidberger: In the direction of a personal prelature. KNA: Similar to Opus Dei? Schmidberger: Somewhat. The interview is far more detailed and deals with the planned ordinations as well .

WDTPRS >> RORATE: on Summorum Pontificum, SSPX, unity - enlightening

Some of you must get the impression that this blog is simply WDTPRS (Eastern U.S. Annex). That is not true. Fr. John Zuhlsdorf posts some fascinating articles and comments and not everyone finds his blog. There was a story posted this morning, an interview, with Professor Luc Perrin, that I linked to on RORATE CAELI . Fr. Zuhlsdorf reads it critically and makes some interesting observations . One, in particular, is worth mentioning from the interview (the quote is taken as found on the WDTPRS blog; BOLD portions are from Fr. Zuhlsdorf, and RED portion s are HIS comments : However we should consider two facts that need time to be fully received by the Church. First fact: the status of the traditional Roman rite (Extraordinary Form) has been firmly settled as never before . [But some will complain that it isn’t becaues Benedict XVI changed the Good Friday prayer. They are wrong, of course, and this guy right. But that doesn’t change the grousing.] On the very long term,

WDTPRS >> ANGELUS: Interviews SSPX excomm’d bishops (part III: R. Williamson)

This is the third "installment" in the series of interviews of SSPX Bishops presented by Father John Zuhlsdorf . He has already presented interviews (and extensive comments on their replies) on Fellay and Tissier de Mallerais . Here is his interview with Williamson.

RORATE CAELI: Exclusive - Interview with Bishop Richard Williamson

New Catholic has posted an exclusive interview with Bishop Richard Williamson of the Society of Saint Pius X . I don't wish to compromise this story, but question [17] is of interest to many.

WDTPRS: Italian magazine Jesus interviews Card. Castrillon Hoyos of the P.C. “Ecclesia Dei”

The interview covered by the publication, " Jesus ," was translated and posted yesterday by Gregor Kollmorgen of The New Liturgical Movement and linked here yesterday. Today, the story has been covered all over the blogosphere. This follow-up post by Father John Zuhlsdorf of What Does the Prayer Really Say is critical to your understanding of the implications of this story as it is a detailed commentary on what was asked and said . In part, it is important because Fr. Zuhlsdorf was affiliated with the PCED for which Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos is speaking. In short, this is ESSENTIAL READING . The Cardinal states at one point about a sentiment being the "mens" of the Pope (L., mens , mind). We can trust, then, that H.E. knows the "mind" of the Holy Father.

Vatican's 'nicest guy' shares ideas in visit here

STLToday.com carries a nice interview of Cardinal John Foley by Tim Townsend . Cardinal Foley was in St. Louis last week and had time for the interview. Here is a snippet: Q: What are the differences between John Paul and Benedict in terms of how they worked with media? Foley: John Paul was a more dramatic figure, and given to dramatic gestures, which the present Holy Father is not. But the present Holy Father is very open to the media. He's very kind, gentle, and he has given interviews before he has gone to specific countries. He did for the Polish media before he went to Poland. He did for the German media before he went to Cologne for World Youth Day. So, it would be nice if he'd do that for the American media, too, but I don't know. He doesn't feel as secure in English. He speaks English very well, but I guess he just lacks confidence. He's a professor, so he like to get things right. … … Not too many people could say that a pope has been in their livin
