The Oratory of St. Philip Neri at St. Thomas the Apostle Church is moving ahead...

This information was sent by my friend, Ioannes...

"It seems like the effort to form an Oratory of St. Philip Neri at St. Thomas the Apostle Church is moving ahead well."

Saturday, September 21st, 5:00 PM Mass: Installation of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri (Installation and Mass said by Cardinal Wuerl)    All are welcome!

"As many of you know, in England, Canada and elsewhere (Vienna, Austria), Oratories are bastions of Catholic orthodoxy—offering lectures, devotions, and Holy Mass, in both the Ordinary and Extraordinary Forms.  (Except in Berlin, Germany—where the Oratorian Fathers ONLY offer the Traditional Latin Mass!)  In the English parishes, the Novus Ordo is offered on the Catholic high altar, and the faithful receive Holy Communion kneeling at the altar rail.

So...getting an Oratory in DC would be a very good thing.  I'll try to keep you all posted...a friend of mine has his finger on the pulse of developments there."

"Report from Friend in Attendance at Mass for the Feast of the Assumption:

1. Attendance at the "proto-Oratory" at St. Thomas the Apostle yesterday was strong despite the strong competition in the area - at least 150+.

2. In addition to the existing Novus Ordo Mass schedule, the TLM schedule at St. Thomas the Apostle as it exists starting now:

"Subject to priest availability, Low Mass on Saturdays at 8:30 am. Please check week by week by phoning the Rectory.   On November 2nd - All Souls - Solemn High Mass of Requiem at 12 Noon.""

Excellent News!
